Here in Australia & abroad with the current uncertain times, natural disasters & the current global pandemic, it’s easy to forget that our Medical Laboratories, Hospitals and Schools could be better protected against Bacterial contamination.
Kilargo has been recommending the installation of Antimicrobial Door Sealing Solutions during this period to help prevent the transfer/growth of bacteria between rooms within buildings.
Most of our more popular Architectural Door Seal products already come with the option to include an antimicrobial additive to help prevent bacterial growth.
With the creation of our antimicrobial gasket, we include SteriTouch® additives that incorporate proven, natural sterilising properties of silver to reduce the growth of harmful bacteria, mould and fungi by up to 99.99%. In-line with Kilargo’s commitment to a more ‘green’ environment, SteriTouch® additives do not leach and have no environmental impact.
How do we, as construction industry professionals, facilitate having better protection in future? There is no single or simple answer to this question. For now, what we can do is start looking at facilities that are required to serve food, assist in medical or pharmaceutical treatments and consider how much of a high-risk area for bacterial growth these venues pose, and what door hardware can be put in place as part of the building design to help prevent this type of growth in future.
Our full range of Kilargo Antimicrobial Architectural Door Seals are available in a variety of systems and applications and could help make the difference in your workplace and are easily identified by the distinctive light-blue colour of the gasket.

While the rest of the world has been getting back into the groove of work for 2020, Kilargo has been busy producing a new feature for our IFD range to make your life a little easier.
Consumable products can be wasteful if not utilised correctly. To ensure you aren’t wasting time, money and materials, we have developed the IFD Mastic Calculator which compliments our Intumescent Fire Damper installations.
Before you install a Kilargo Intumescent Fire Damper, you can pre-calculate precisely how much mastic is required to install your product. Less mess, less waste!
Now that we have saved you some time by creating a great new tool to use, why not take a moment to check out the calculator?
You can find it located on each of our product pages or the main IFD Product portal.
As many of you are aware, the IFD Low-Loss has been out for several months now. The product has been a fantastic new addition to our product line.
The development of the Low-Loss damper has been a much sought-after improvement needed in the industry for many years with many of the current lines of intumescent dampers not changing for more than 20 years. The IFD-LL was greeted with a very positive, warm welcome across the entire HVAC industry.
With Australian & International standards changing, we needed to ensure that our product would not only be an improvement to design and our range but ensure future proofing for further development.
A significant part of the installation of fire dampers includes the requirement of an Installation Label outlined in AS1682.2.
Development of the label required several months of testing, proofing, redevelopment and eventual release. Now that the kinks have been ironed out, Kilargo has a well-tested and proven IFD Installation Label for our fire dampers. The installer labels are fully compliant with the latest standard, simple to use and give our installers a little more convenience when installing the product.
Each label is a dual-peel system, pre-attached to the damper, with a section for installers to enter their name & licence information and relevant dates. Once completed, it can then be peeled again and applied to the appropriate surface for inspection purposes.
We’re all about smart, simple solutions in the HVAC industry and invite you to take a look at our product & installation label at our local distributor or from your local Kilargo sales specialist.

It has been several months since the release of our IFD Low-Loss circular damper. The response from the marketplace has been magnificent, so today we’d like to add a little Cherry to the top of your cake and give you a great new tool to use when specifying IFD’s:
Introducing: The IFD-LL Pressure Drop Calculator
The modern-day calculator may have been replaced by smarter technologies; however, this calculator has been specifically designed to support the specification of IFD’s into your projects.
Results generated within the calculator are based on testing completed at ViPAC earlier this year during the initial release of the Low-Loss Fire Dampers as a part of our product compliance.
Simply select a diameter, input airflow and the results are immediately presented in a clear & concise manner. It’s as easy as that!
Our Calculator is now available for our Circular Low-Loss Fire Dampers, so before you start specifying be sure to open our Pressure Drop Calculator for the most accurate information available.

With the upcoming change of season, Australia has begun to prepare itself for another Bushfire Season around the country.
In 2003, Canberra experienced significant bushfires causing loss of life and major damage to property across the region. Since that time, the Australian Standard relating to building in bushfire prone areas had been revised and a new Australian Standard (AS3959) was drafted.
In 2009 after another series of devastating bushfires in Victoria, this Standard was extensively reviewed and clearer guidelines on the construction requirements for bushfire prone areas were developed.
A great deal of scientific modelling has gone into the new building Standard AS3959-2009 (Construction of buildings in bushfire-prone areas). We now have a system to determine the type of building construction required in bushfire prone areas in order to improve their resistance to bushfire attack from burning embers, radiant heat or flames generated by a bushfire.
Kilargo has produced a series of Door Sealing Systems to assist during the construction of buildings in these Bushfire Prone areas – with a focus on defending against potential risk of fire.
Take a look at our mini bushfire brochure below to find out how Kilargo can help you defend against potential bushfire damage.

Introducing the IFD Low-Loss (IFD-LL); Tested to both Section 10 & Section 11 in AS1530.4 2014. Providing insulation and fire integrity up to 120 minutes.
With an improved, high-performance design, IFD-LL provides reduced pressure drop & lowered noise when installed with a compact, lightweight (yet robust) & durable design.
